Q: What are those black streaks on my roof?

A: Those streaks on your roof are a type of algae called Gloeocapsa Magma.  It thrives in humid areas like the one we live in.  Lately Gloeocapa Magma has become a gradually bigger problem for homeowners because shingle manufacturers have started using limestone filler in the shingle making process, therefore providing a food source for the algae.  Stains like those black streaks are proof that your shingles are literally being eaten.  Allowing the algae to continue to grow and build up can significantly reduce the reflective properties of your roof and put more strain on your air conditioning system.  When your air conditioner has to work harder, your energy cost becomes higher resulting in more money out of your pocket.

Q: How do you clean my roof? How long will it take?

A: The cleaning process uses a no pressure application of a mix of detergents.  There are no power washers used in the process. The process is safe for your home, family, pets and your landscaping.  Most average sized residential roofs can be cleaned in less than 4 hours.

Q: How long will my roof be clean?

A: In general a roof will be algae free for about three years.  Although there is no guarantee that algae won’t return should there be an exceptionally humid or wet year.  Each scenario and home is different and should be treated individually.  On another note, a partial roof cleaning is never recommended. While algae may be more concentrated in one area of your roof, it doesn’t mean that it is not spread out on the entire surface.  Our recommendation is always to clean the entire surface of the roof.

Q: Do you offer any other services?

A: Yes, we can safely remove mold and mildew from your vinyl siding using a commercial grade detergent wash followed by a low pressure rinse.  We can also clean your sidewalks, driveways, and walkways from algae and mold using professional surface cleaning equipment
